I had the good fortune of attending the Jeff Rosenstock's Ska Dream last night in Chicago and it was worth the pain of getting back in town after 4am and up at 7am to get my kids ready for school. Based on the energy of that show there is real excitement around the ska scene right now. One of the best shows I have ever seen.

Missed out on 20 minutes of JEFF

This song belongs in the ska thread
(no one knows it, but this was released on vinyl for Record Store Day and we still have it)

Would it be fair to say that per capita, that Springfield is the current ska capital of the world? An argument could certainly be made

I can also do this without a fedora.

Oh boy I went down a rabbit hole last night....
I recently have been re-visiting Catch 22's final album "Permanent Revolution". Certainly a time, 2006. What has that band been doing, playing like one show a year since then? I watched a video of them doing a reunion in 2022 and it looked bad. The above video is SO confusing to me though they all look SO young and also what is their horn section?!? I think I see at least 7 horn players!?? Also I'm having a hard time grasping who was even doing vocals in the band after Kalnoky left... Permanent Revolution is more like the saxophone player taking on main lead with the trumpet player chiming in sometimes. But "Alone In A Crowd" was it like all of the members switching off??
BIG question, do any videos of Catch 22 DURING the Tomas Kalnoky era exist?
Naturally my rabbit hole lead me down looking at live videos of Streetlight Manifesto starting at the below video of their first ever show on through the present day, where Kalnoky is 42 years old (that's still pretty young, dang). The band is SO YOUNG on the below video, they must all be 22 years old (to me that's young now anyways) (especially for a band putting out THE album Everything Went Numb, okay?) (I guess I am also going down the rabbit holes because that album turned 20 years old sometime this month).

The first thing I think of when I think of late 90s ska is an obscene amount of horn players.
