The world has never needed The Cure more than they do in 2020. What other band's arguably best album is their 8th full length? This thread is for all things The Cure and Robert Smith. Photos, videos, interviews, fan theories, and swooning. No contemporary bands allowed here, those go in the "Post Punk / Dark Wave / Goth Rock / New Wave / Synth Pop" thread. To start things off, what song would you say is THE The Cure song? Not what song is your favorite but what is the song that most represents the band to their fans and to the public at large? My partner and I were trying to nail this down and its tough but these are the songs that we thought could contend. Just Like Heaven. For that sound Friday I'm In Love. Highest selling single Lovesong. Highest charting song Boys Don't Cry. The first big hit, wedding hit, punk hit A Forest. The most played live song Honerable mentions: In Between Days, High, and Pictures of You. What is THE The Cure song? What is missing from this list?

Saw them at a RF awhile back. Was as good as you'd expect.

Every B side on Wish deserves to be on a proper album. These songs should have been saved. I saw them play This Twilight Garden live once and was blown away by this "new" song I hadn't heard before.

I went to a yard sale probably ten years ago and as I looked around the yard, the guy running the thing came out and told me he had some electronic records and singles in the house. I went into the house and started picking through the crates set up in the living room. The guy came in the and sat down. He picked up a glass tube from behind his loveseat, "mind if I rip on this bowl?" He asked. "Go for it" I replied. He tells me about how he had been a DJ in Dallas several years ago and how he had just been carrying around these records since then. He points to a crate in the corner, "that ones got some weird electronic stuff and a 12 inch cure single, you should get it". I grabbed that record based on his recommendation, the 'fascination street' single. I've always cherished the record for some reason. My (most everyone's) favorite era of the cure. Favorite song is probably Disintegration, but it has to be cranked all the way up. This is another hit, also best when loud.

I forgot about this! They did an entire set as The Cure. I was actually going to go but it sold out by the time I found out. I hadn't seen any video yet. I love that they dressed in their Aquabat costumes to then put Cure costumes over it.

This is Robert Smiths other band The Glove. It is a group formed by Robert Smith and the bass player from Siouxsie and the Banshees, Steven Severin. They only released one album in 1983 called Blue Sunshine. Reverberation Vinyl in Bloomington Illinois had a copy of this album when I was in there once and it was little more expensive than I wanted to do. I looked at it probably three or four times and the guy offered to cut me a good deal if bought it that day, so i did ^____^

I waited until the very last moment and it has paid off. I bought a front row (pit) ticket to see the boys tonight. Rumor has it they are playing new songs tonight. The Twilight Sad is opening for them. I saw The Twilight Sad open for The Cure in 2016 so, lol.

I'm going to Tampa in a few weeks to see them. I'm super stoked. Let us know how your show was. I'm super jealous of front row.

I purposely haven't listened to any of the new tacks they've been playing yet. I took the gamble to see if I could get better seats than the "lawn" in the very back of the venue by waiting until day of to buy my ticket. I'll report back tomorrow.

I heard there was a lightning delay that pushed back when gates open. According to Robert, that combined with people showing up closer to start time made the lines to get in really bad. They allegedly couldn't push back start times because of curfew. The setlist looked pretty good. I saw a few pictures, and Robert wore an "all work no play makes jack a dull boy" shirt. Almost every shirt he's worn during the north American tour has been themed to where he's playing. I love themes and The Cure.

Almost every shirt he's worn during the north American tour has been themed to where he's playing. I love themes and The Cure. The line was pretty wild. I was lucky and was walking from the direction of the train instead of the parking lot where the main line formed and they opened a side entrance to let people in just as I was getting there. I ordered a veggie dog and the lady said "hold on, gimmie a minute, let me find it, no one has EVER ordered that before" Twilight Sad ruled. It was suppose to rain the entire time but it never ended up happening. The Cure had a lot of thunder and lightning effects on stage and played Prays for Rain, so not even the force of Robert Smith could summon it. Setlist had some absolute surprise bangers in it like Six Different Ways, Disintegration, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, Kyoto Song. Nothing from Pornography, Faith (ahem* Charlotte Sometimes), only one song from the Top, and one from Wild Mood Swings. Would have loved to have heard Why Cant I Be You, Strange Attraction, Mint Car, the 13th, 100 years, This Twilight Garden, and Dressing up (since the pan flute was already on stage). I truly can not complain though with a 29 song setlist, 5 new songs, and a 2 hour 45 minute performance.

I have never realized that his Cube amp is altered to say Cure. That is hilarious! I'm going to keep my eyes open on Tampa tickets in hopes something super close pops up. We're currently 300 level front row a few sections away from the stage. They'll be great tickets, but being as close as you were would be amazing.
Sorry they didn't play Charlotte Sometimes, it was on their setlist but didn't make it. Unsure if that was a time constraint or if they intentionally have extra songs on it as options.
I hope you didn't get food poisoning from the vegan hot dog that was likely expired.
