What is some of y'all's favorite game music? Arcade or home. Should this be in the music thread, I don't know! But post it below!
SEGA soundtracks always go way harder than anyone asked them too.
Streets of Rage 2 - Go Straight
Revenge of Shinobi - The Shinobi
Popful Mail - Volcanic Zone (Exploration)
Sonic The Hedgehog 3 - Final Boss

I made up lyrics to this song once. I will update this post if I remember them. Anxiously awaiting the words. These tunes do not sound the same but this song popped in my head listening to the lyrics-less Dx Mario

They came out with a 4th one right when quarantine hit. I played it, but it's really a game that you need to play with other people. Also, that Dr. Mario music gives me anxiety; I used to play it all the time with some friends who were really good. I don't think I ever won a game.
Obligatory LoZ.
But THIS Is my vote for best video game music of all time.

so one thing i noticed from these oldie musics is that in order to make a hit. just snare or kick on 2 and 4, thank u oldies.
chills
This game series was made by fromsoftware who made the popular Darksouls franchise. They kept the theme of dark and doomer, with circle strafing and awkward controls. I played the rom of KF: Ancient City a couple years ago and had a blast after i configured the controls better! The story really is the best part of the game with magical forests old races of fantasy, coupled with a mystique middle aged sound track its a heavy hitter in the fantasy genre.
Fun fact you can go to the first kingsfield(94) and each game up to DS3(16) and find the "moonlight greatsword/sword." i thought that was a cool easter egg, and in some games the moonlight great sword is the end weapon you have to get in order to dispel darkness from the land.
ill raise u a fairy fountain
i miss old ww2 vibe CoD games. they had stereotypical smart ass Brooklyn guy they call "Brooklyn" he dies near the middle when he opens a door in Italy and my 7 year old brain was so sad.

I'm definitely a lonely fellow and played all the way through Streets of Rage 4 by myself.
Instead of Mii Chanel Music (10 hours) can I get some Ps1 startup sound (10 hours)?
I'll raise you a Prelude
Did anyone ever play Streets of Rage 3? It is so much incredibly harder than the other ones and the music certainly went in a "unique..." direction
Here is a question for the rest of my post. Why do shooters so often go with a jazzy soundtrack?
Galaxy Force II - Beyond The Galaxy
Thunder Blade - Type II
Metal Slug - Inner Station

If you want to hear the best video game music ever conceived, it's been right under our nose this whole time in RACING GAME
Unfortunately you never hear it in the arcade because it only plays during attract mode as a continuous loop so I had to disable it. However it's so good that perhaps it needs to re-enabled and crank it all the way up!

I bought the first Kings Field from a thrift store right before covid hit but I still haven't played it. I made it through Demons Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 and found the Moonlight Greatsword in DS and DS1. I still haven't gotten a "new" system yet so I haven't had the chance to play DS3 or Bloodborne yet. There is a series on the Gamecube called Lost Kingdoms that is also made by From Software. I love the first game. Even though it is a real time card based action game, it is unquestionably a From Software game. The menu selection "bong" sound is the same as Dark Souls, there are fog gates, most of the lore of the world is learned through item descriptions, and its bleak as all get out. This game has a lot more music in than their other games and a lot of them are in weird time signatures. It all sets a mood for sure though

That game is hard! There is a jump at the end of the first level that probably 90% of people definitely fall into. Also I hope to be that buff and a comic creator some day

Along with the Daytona song already posted I love it when games try to go big with cheesy vocal songs. It's very endearing if nothing else. Sonic CD - Sonic Boom You've murdered thousands of demons at this point, literally killed death incarnate with a sword, and followed the devil into another dimension to finish him off. And then you are met with this song as the credits role. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - I Am the Wind Nights Into Dreams - Dream Dream
