Today I would like to rank all of my favorite album by Jeff Rosensock, one of my favorite Jeff's. I think Jeff is a great song writer I have been following for many many year, and he got a lotta albums in a lotta projects. It is so great that there has been like... 1 Jeff album from something every year for the past 22 years or some sh*t.
I think all of these albumbs are great. It is hard to rank them. I think I got all of them. Okay after I did this, I have to say that like... #1-7 are top top top tier my favorite albums of all time, it is too hard to rank. All of this was too hard to rank.
1. Bomb The Music Industry! - Goodbye Cool World
^^ I don't think this one is a million miles above the rest or anything, it's just.. so much fun. so many hits. the recordings and the saxophones sound so perfect.
2. The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - Three Cheers for Disappointment
^^ so many hits, and recorded really well compared to any earlier ASOB stuff.
3. Bomb The Music Industry! - Get Warmer
^^ this one is probably my first full album of his I remember listening too, my freshman year of college big time. all of this stuff hit hard with me my freshman year.
4. Bomb The Music Industry! - Vacation
^^ this one remind me of summer. one thing I loved about BTMI was that every new album he came out with sounded very different and took me by surprise. not so much the same with his solo stuff, but that is okay.
5. Jeff Rosenstock - We Cool?
^^ all of his solo albums are pretty much same or similar tier for me, this one I think is just the best as a whole
6. Jeff Rosenstock - Worry
^^ I like on this one out of all his solo albums he's got a lot of smaller songs crammed into one medely in the middle of this thing
7. Bomb The Music Industry! - Scrambles
^^ Also my freshman year of college, I remember waiting and refreshing the "quote unquote records" page right at midnight waiting for this album to drop.
8. Jeff Rosenstock - I Look Like Shit
^^ I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take this as an album or what when it came out, but it's 10 songs and they are great
9. Jeff Rosenstock - No Dream
^^ the new one.
10. Jeff Rosenstock - Post
^^ love that with this one he was all of a sudden on polyvinyl records by surprise, but ranked it lowest of his solo stuff caus not a fan of the longer dragged out songs that make less room for hits and I feel like it doesn't work as well as a whole like Worry or We Cool? did, sorry Jeff
11. Bomb The Music Industry! - Album Minus Band
^^ ranked farther down in the list, but still an absolute classic
12. Kudrow - Lando 7"
^^ a deep cut of Jeff's, the only reason this thing is so far down is it's only four songs, if it were a full album it would be top top tier. whatever this project was.
13. The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - All The Little Ones Are Rotting...
14. Bomb The Music Industry! - Adults!!!..
15. Jeff Rosenstock - Summer 7" + Bonus Tracks
16. Antarctigo Vespucci - Leavin' La Viva Loca
^^ all of this band's albums have felt the same for me. It's good, and good song writing. I feel like it's all Jeff songs, and more poppier stuff, but with Chris Farren mostly singing.
17. Antarctigo Vespucci - Love In The Time of Email
18. Antarctigo Vespucci - I'm So Teathered / Soulmate Stuff
19. Bomb The Music Industry! - To Leave Or Die In Long Island
^^ yeah, a much lower ranked Bomb! album for me, I don't know why this is a lot of people's favorites but I respect. there's only like 7 songs here and they are not the best hits. still good though.
20. Bomb The Music Industry! / O Pioneers - Split 10"
^^ I don't care about O Pioneers, but in this release we got 4 very political BTMI songs and I love the direction on these and really wish it existed as a full album, but dam these 4 songs are great deep cuts
21. Bomb The Music Industry! - Others!
^^ just the b-sides / rarities album, but it's still good.
22. The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - Pornocracy
23. The Arrogant Sons of Bitches - Built To Fail
^^ these last couple of things he's like... 14 or 15 years old and it's bad, but it's still good and I still listen to some of it.
I know he's played in some other stuff like "Pegusus XL" whatever that was but I never made it through listening to a full song of whatever that project was, and plays in the Mikey Erg band and probably other stuff but I'm not counting those, I think these would be all of the projects Jeff does the songwriting for.
Okay maybe it will be more fun to list out my favorite Jeff songs. Still a little hard because I feel on his solo albums and kinda throughout what makes these songs so great is how they tie into each other.
1. So Let's Go Nowhere (A.S.O.B.)
^^ this is hands down my favorite song of all time. the music video was my introduction to Jeff
2. Future 86 (B.T.M.I.)
^^ okay, all of these songs on this list make me cry, but this one makes everybody cry. heck maybe my second favorite song of all time.
3. I, Musical Genius (A.S.O.B.)
^^ there's just something about this era of ASOB where the songs just hit me so hard (I remember I was listening to these on last.fm and they popped up as suggested in my ska mix), these songs about music scenes and whatnot in the early 2000's. they probably make almost no sense now, but I love it. "everything's for sale, everything's for sale, everything's for sale..."
4. Matchless, Considerable Weirdness, The B48 Home (B.T.M.I.)
^^ this one is a deep deep cut and no other song takes me back to a certain point in time (and that would have been right when I moved into the dude ranch and my Junior year of college, even more specifically when I decided to bike straight from champaign to Allerton park by myself in the 80+ degree heat middle of the day on a saturday) than this one. doesn't sound much like any other Bomb! song.
5. Sorry. We Steal. (A.S.O.B.)
6. 80's Through The 50's (Jeff Rosenstock)
^^ I guess my favorite song out of his solo stuff, wherever this masterpiece came from, also doesn't sound like his other songs but it's beautiful.
7. Even Winning Feels Bad (B.T.M.I.)
^^ I always forget about this song and how good it is, and then it comes on and oh man. I've seen Bomb! live two times and the second song they played this one and oh man I cried.
8. My Response To An Article In Alternative Press (B.T.M.I.)
^^ A chunk of this song and the hornline is apparently just a ripoff of a Toasters song, but that just adds to how great it is.
9. 25! (B.T.M.I.)
^^ Like... literally all of Jeff's songs are great at being super relate-able and adulthood for "punks" growing up not knowing what the f* they are doing with their lives like me, but this one in particular... you know
10. Side Projects Are Never Successful (B.T.M.I.)
^^ wherever this weird party summertime hit came from I don't know, it also is weird and doesn't sound like the other songs on this album, it's so wacky, it's so great.
11. Disappointment At The Taco Bell (A.S.O.B)
^^ this whole album is hits, and it sounds cheesy when the singer of one of your favorite ska bands makes a guest appearance on another one of your favorite ska bands songs and even cheesier when "Taco Bell" is in the song title, and that's what this is but it's great I love it.
12. All Ages Shows (B.T.M.I.)
^^ sometimes, it's those slower Bomb! songs that really do it, and Laura Stevenson's vocals mixed in that really do it.
13. 493 Ruth (B.T.M.I.)
^^ Really hard picking a top song off of the album Get Warmer! because it has so many great moments, but this is what I am going with.
14. Save The War (B.T.M.I.)
^^ I had to pick one of those political songs from the O Pioneers split.
15. 5 Funerals (B.T.M.I.)
^^ I just had to pick this song, it's sad and about people or friends dying, but hectic and ska and fun at the same time, which is a lot of Jeff's stuff. wow, like four of the songs I picked here are all back-to-back-to-back on Goodbye Cool World, this is why I think that album is on the top for me.
16. Sort of like Being Pumped (B.T.M.I.)
^^ another one where Laura Stevenson's added vocals really do it
17. I want to put something off of either Worry or We Cool? on here and listening to it, I just gotta say on Worry like... tracks #9-15 play as if they are one long 11 minute long song, and that song needs to be on this list but it's impossible for me to just put one chunk on it, and there are a couple of moments like that on We Cool? too. That's all.
I think all of these albumbs are great. It is hard to rank them. I think I got all of them. Okay after I did this, I have to say that like... #1-7 are top top top tier my favorite albums of all time, it is too hard to rank. All of this was too hard to rank.
