The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the scariest movie ever made. The VVitch is very scary too.

I usually have trouble summoning the courage to watch a spooky movie, but my go to recommendation is Cube. It's an indie Canadian psychological thriller. I bet it's free on Crackle or something.
Okay I just went to look for a trailer for you all and found the whole movie, free, on YouTube. Looks like it's really good quality, too. You could watch the whole dang movie and not have to leave your favorite internet forum.
I'd also suggest not watching the trailer if you want to stay unspoiled. I just watched it and would have been pissed if I had seen it before I saw the movie.

LOL I watched this movie for the first time in my life by myself on Saturday night:

I'll watch them all now. How many are there 11? As many as Land Before Time?
And I watched this one.... I am putting here in the category of "scary movies"

Haven't watched a whole lot of horror this quarantine, but I just saw Cape Fear for the first time this week on Netflix, and it's worth a watch just to hear De Niro's incredible/terrible southern accent. If you're looking to watch something tonight, I'd recommend: Evil Dead 2 (fun slapstick 80s horror on Hulu - you don't need to have seen the first one) The Cabin in the Woods (wild horror/comedy genre deconstruction on Prime and Hulu) Green Room (very tense movie about DIY punks getting attacked by Nazis on Netflix) It Follows (a modern horror classic streaming free on Peacock) Hereditary (very upsetting drama/horror on Amazon Prime) Or if you're trying to spend a few bucks and rent something, try Get Out or Us

I just watched a couple scary movies the other day. Netflix suggested that I watch Killer Klowns From Outerspace. When I was like 8 or 9 I tried to rent this movie, but instead of getting the Killer Klowns tape they gave me a tape for a movie that involved 4 people attempting to spend the night in a carnival ride and then get stalked by a killer. That movie scared me to death and after returning it I forgot what the name was and was never able to find it at the video store. So I decided to watch Killer Clowns because I never actually saw it, and I tell ya, it's bad. I really hated it. Not scary, tries to be funny and fails, very boring. There is one good character but he isn't on screen very much. I got so bored that I started googling to try and figure out what movie it was that I actually watched that day so many years ago. Turns out it was The Funhouse made by Tobe Hooper who made Texas Chainsaw Massacre (my personal pick for scariest movie ever as I said above). So I watched that, and IT HOLDS UP. Its a real slow burn 70s horror, the first half of the movie is just creepy and unsettling and the last half becomes really intense. The villain is a guy in a goofy mask (which they make the mistake of letting you get a real good look at and it looks dumb by today's standards) but his physical acting is really disturbing and scary.

I did it, I started my 7 day free trial on Shudder.com. John Menchaca, I am looking to your guidance on this journey I am taking. Mitch Baker I would like your movie blessings as well (does THE Mitch Baker have a shudder account?? )
My first shudder movie I watch by myself last night was Black Christmas (1974)... apparently one of the first "slasher" films of it's kind? It was not that Christmas-y.

Did she really kill Peter at the end because she thought he was the killer? because she saw Billy and I would have think she wouldn't have been that dumb. Or did she kill Peter because she didn't like him and she knew that the cops thought Peter might have been the killer?
I DID re-watch Gremlins this past weekend, and THAT is a grEAT Christmas movie, 10/10 on of my all time favorites, I had not seen since high school.

I did a 30 day trial of Shudder! They have some of the Hammer horror movies which are very good. They are all made in England and all the actors are like Shakespearean actors but they are fighting vampires and goofy stuff like that. I didn't find them very scary, but I did really enjoy watching them. They also have the uncut version of Cannibal Holocaust which is difficult to watch because of some of the real things they filmed.

Spookingly enough, I only got 8 movies in with my free trial of Shudder. I came for Halloween 4 and 5, stayed for Argento. It's also where I saw "Blood Feast," the Joe Bob Briggs version. Made the movie 100 times better.
