The pinball feeds have been plastering the obit of Marc of Marcos pinball, which reminds me of a thought I had that a lot of the small companies I rely on to get parts are really just created by old pinball nerd guys and once they pass away, then who will keep it going? Marcos is the chief supplier of every random pinball part out there, but it seems they are resolved to keep going without him. There are other suppliers out there like Steve Young who are also super old. Without these companies, it will be very hard to keep the old pinballs going for sure.
I'm sorry to hear about Marc. Life is a lot like a pinball machine. There's a lot of moving parts, and it takes a little foresight and a lot of elbow grease to make good things happen. But if you can't find the tools you need and the parts required to make it happen, it sometimes feels like the grand design is out of reach and the ball is destined for the gutter. I hope that the love this community has for the pins can keep this vital piece of the puzzle intact so that we can continue to share our love of the game with the world.

I've been slowly making my way through the cocaine and rhinestones podcast, and the first episode of season 2 goes into the illegality of pinball and how it affected country artists at the time. It was a good listen if you can get past the speaking style of the guy who makes it.
This is why older games always have "game of skill" or "amusement only" plastered all over them.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO8HePnDqZc Well... FRICK. That's not The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ pinball that I was told that we would be getting! That's RUSH! I guess I would take RUSH over The _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ but it's still not THE RAMONES.
@cory_V how do you feel about this?
I guess I still believe that the _ _ _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ that Stern has lined up are still true, I just don't know when.

Wow a lot of celebrity deaths today. Among those would be Lyman Sheats who I just posted about not that long ago along with a list of big hitters leaving Stern to work at other pinball companies. He is responsible for a lot of pinball game software, starting with Data East's Tommy, including big hits like Medieval Madness, and his last game being the latest Elvira. He was also a top contender in the top pinball tournaments. I just read how he got a billion points on STTNG with a missing left flipper.
In other news, I needed to buy a new electronic motor for an up and coming secret game for the Dumb Arcade. The best price for one was at Steve Young's Pinball Resource, which is a site I try to avoid because it's a hassle. However it was a pleasant experience since I wasn't a brand new customer. They are really Internet 1.0, where you order via phone or email with the part numbers you want, and then they ship it out with an invoice for you to pay by check! A lot of work just to get around not using card. But since this is more a DIY operation, I called him and got a better deal by trading in my old broken motor and talked to that actual Steve Young on the phone! He was actually pretty nice and not at all crotchety like I imagined, and we went all over the place talking about pinball. I may start buying from that site more often.
