I wish Mr. Big Mac Flapjacks would pick popcorn as the takeout pick of the week because I'm gonna need a big ol bowl of it to get me through a three hour movie.

Good morning mitch Baker movie forum, last night I began my journey of watching all the Mission Impossible movies with my dad Gary Galecki! (I forget where we were talking about mission impossible??) (probably in the good morning thread)... I am copy / paste my review from letterbox here:
I begin my journey watching all of the Mission Impossible movies with my dad Gary Galecki. Can we make it to all 7? We will see. He was trying to find it on their Amazon Prime account but couldn't at first because he was spelling "Mission" with just one S instead of 2. I was frustrated at first too because my dad had the volume down so dang low and while my mom was doing the dishes (the kitchen is connected to the living room in their home). The subtitles were still on, but this was still hard to follow and it was also too hard to try to tell who was the good guys and who was really the bad guys the whole time. Too many twists? It was nice there were no parts my dad had to fast forward like he did when we were watching James Bond when we were younger ((the kissing parts))
Seven out of ten stars for me!!

Dear Mitch Baker Underground Movie Forum, I watched like 20 movies in the whole month of January and that is probably the most movies I have ever watched in one month I hope you are all proud of me. I must report back with some of these watches that I have not talked about on the forum to give my official review:

BLADE RUNNER (1982): some times I go into the "classic" "movies" that I have never seen in my life before with high expectations and I'm waiting the entire movie for it to get "good" and it never seems to really get "good" and then I'm sitting there at the end like what the heck, you call that a classic??? I want my money back! Maybe if this was something I had never heard of before and I thought I had discovered a long lost 80's sci-fi gem I would have liked it. but it was very boring sorry. one in a half stinking stars but I'll still watch the newer one
KILL BILL (2003): then you have these "classic" "movies" that I have never seen before in my life and I go and watch them and I say yeah okay... I get why this is a classic. it's good. I like it. okay I love it. five/five stars.
I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS (2020): Mitch Baker I am sorry but I used your Netflix login and watched this, just wanted to see a new flim... a movie that was very confusing and not supposed to make any sense, and it wasn't supposed to. people probably like this movie because it doesn't make sense. it's "art" or something. i liked it good/okay anyways... 3.5 star
THE NEW YORK RIPPER (1982): Did I give a review of this in the Shudder thread? I dunno. But I watched this and it was a good bad 80's horror... I guess it had some good parts. some parts reminded me of Batman: Dark Night 2008 . but 2 stars for me
THE LODGE (2019): I remember this one being slow to take off and then too many twists and turns at the end that I didn't like. but it was alright. 3 stars for me

Mitch Baker, I am back to report more movies that I have watched for you this year so far. (There have been a lottt). Just have to let the forum know...

DIE LAUGHING (1980): BOy, I found a weird movie completely at random on letterbox (I showed Zack my technique for randomly selecting movie) and it's this one from 1980 called "Die Laughing" featuring a boy who finds a monkey that everyone is after and it is a wild ride, I had much fun watching this one chili fan's. For a movie that only 85 people have seen according to letterbox, I was very pleasantly surprised. It's not that good, but it's good. 3 stars
AGUIRRE, WRATH OF GOD (1972): As I posted about maybe on the Cathode Cinema thread or something, I picked a good night to watch something they were featuring to watch this masterpiece of it's time. It's a pretty unique movie I will admit that, but what stuck out to me a lot of the time is imagining how much of a challenge it must have been to film this movie in the middle of the Amazon rainforest in the early 1970's. also lovin' the monkeys!!! I'm getting lucky finding all these movies with tiny monkeys. I gave it 4 stars (out of 5)
A QUIET PLACE (2018): wow I am a sucker for these end of the world "last man on earth" movies. I found a "last man on earth" 1964 movie on DVD at Deals dollar store one time and it stuck out to me as one of my favorites. I remember watching War of the Worlds at the $2 mall theater by myself in 2004 or something when I was 14. this one of course is a new spin on this type of movie. It must have been a strange experience for anyone to watch this very *quiet* movie in the theaters with a buncha people, and I'm kinda glad I didn't. wow I gave it 4.5 out of 5.
SOUL (2020): yeah, I saw this new PIXAR movie that eveyone loves. all the Pixar movies seem the same to me as I get old but we all need our heart warmed up and to feel good from time to time. since this one was about music and I have a record store I felt like I was supposed to watch. I give it a 4 stars.
FRANKENSTEIN (2015): I picked a movie off of shudder completely at random and watched. a modern take on Frankenstein with not a lot of dialogue. I don't think I would recommend anybody watch this. I didn't like it. But I watched it all. 2 out of 5 stars.

continuing down my list of the whole lotta movies I have been wtaching instead of uploading our gopro videos on to the dumb record youtube channell...

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (2008): a 2000's snowy wintertime Swedish vampire movie.. I think this one was on shudder (?) or maybe not, maybe I just watched I dunno why. but a good non-christmas winter horror movie pick dibbling in othergenres other than horror, it might make you feel good, it might be "cute", maybe scary sometimes. I liked it. it was in swedish too with subtitles. that boy look like a young Edgar Winter. 4/5 stars
POLTERGEIST (1982): Wow I was surprised at the whole tone that this 80's horror "classic" was at the whole time,... I felt like I was watching a kids movie like "E.T." or something? Maybe that is because it had that classic 1980's christmas movie like family with the mom and the dad and boy and girl kids, and they are shown eating breakfast at a table multiple times in the movie (so many movies like that, a nnice family eating breakfast)... the theatrical soundtrack did it too (reminded me of E.T.). all of this was a pretty big contrast to just coming from watching all of the Halloween movies which I feel were made more for adults, and the soundtrack was iconic but also very minimal. it was like a kids movie but still scary and a lot going on. there's like a tornado inside of the house right away. 4.5 out of 5 stars.
AMSTERDAMNED (1988): a good bad 80's movie that I picked at random off of shudder , this time it's about a scuba diver killer! it's got boat chases. I knew there would be a part in this movie with smily mutant faces, but it didn't come until the very very end and was only less than a minute of it. 2 out of 5.
STARFISH (2018): This was a newer one off shudder. I like "last man on earth" war of the worlds type movies. this one was weird and trippy I guess, hard to really understand what is going on but you are not really supposed to. abstract and artsy. 1.5 out of 5.
X-MEN (2000): wow I never felt the need to watch any of the x-men movies, 2000 was pretty early on for a super hero movie like this huH? I would have probably loved it when I was 10 years old, I guess it holds up alright today. 3 out of 5 stars for me.

I better report back in to the Mitch Baker Movie Lab.... I hadn't finished reporting what I had been watching with my last update, and I've watched a bunch more movies since then!

OKAY, I've been diving into some CLASSICS:
THE EVIL DEAD (1981): WOW, I loved it. This movie is everything I love about 80's horror cram jammed into 1? It's got goo, it's got stop animation, it's got scary stuff. a good soundtrack from what I remember. It was just all non-stop. And you know what else? It's about four Michigan State students renting a cabin in the woods... that's where my DAD went to collgege. and turns out this movie originated from an idea created by students from that university!!! I went back and consulted Gary Galecki - turns out he graduated in 1980. So literally went to school with the actors / actresses and director of this film at the same time they were making it. My dad never heard of it. I give my dad so many chances to be cool and this happens time and time again. Why? Going the WHOLE WAY with this one and giving 5 out of 5 stars.
BURN AFTER READING (2008): I picked a movie completely at random (I showed Zack my method for this) again that I probably would have never watched otherwise and I loved it. Silly people getting themselves into silly situations! Baha! 4.5 out of 5 stars for me.
DEEP RED (1975): Damn I'm sorry classic "Deep Red" movie but going to any old horror after watching Evil Dead is a let down. This was my second time trying this movie, the first time around I completely fell asleep. But I wanted to give it another fair chance. Sure, the short scene with the old pinball doll is a classic but that's about all this one has going for it TBH. 2 out of 5 stars.
EVIL DEAD 2 (1988): Oh HERE WE GO it's a WILD ride right from where the first one left off and it's all non STOP baby. kicks off with more weird stop animation, and gets real wacky with a bunch of comedy thrown in. The deer head on the wall is singing, the guys hand gets chopped off and is crawling all over the place, more scary crazy stuff. Between this and the first movie it's all non-stop to the extreme. I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars again and I don't think the Evil Dead movies after this are gonna be as good.
WORLD WAR Z (2013): I am a sucker for these end of the world zombies movies. (especially good to watch while we have an actual pandemic (scary)). I thought "A Quiet Place" was a real good one and maybe a refreshing take (reminded me of that I Am Legend Will Smith movie (anyone?). This one is a 2013 modern take with Brad Pitt... not anything to special. Pretty straight forward. I don't like how unrealistically fast everyone turns into zombies (like two seconds) in these types of movies. (come on, we are in a pandemic where it take you two weeks to feel effects of a virus right now). Just gonna give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I thought I read Drop Dead Fred there for an instant, but it was actually Deep Red. I've heard DDF is a really great movie, however I've only ever watched 2 movies, which you know are Santa Claus conquers the Martians and the Pixar movie Coco

Alright gang! Don't tell Jeff this but I blew some of our record budget this week on NEW MOVIES. ON DVD. FOR THE UNDERGROUND MITCH BAKER MOVIE BUNKER.
Let's take a look at this week's haul:

PRETTY GOOD. We got some music related picks, that's nice. We have 2004 horror flick "The Mist" but we also have... "A TALKING CAT!?!?"
This week's official Mitch Baker Movie Pick is "A TALKING CAT?!?!?". Mitch would like to all come into his movie bunker and borrow this to watch and bring it back. Then... let the forum know what you think!
This week's password to get into the movie bunker is: "PLANET FITNESS"

Brian, I LOVE seeing what you've been watching, and our tastes are actually much more similar than I would have thought! I'm popping in to recommend two new movies I saw last month: Nomadland (streaming on Hulu) and Sound of Metal (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). Both take their time and aren't super fast-paced watches, but they're both deeply engaging, emotional, and guide you through subcultures in a way that I think punks could relate to, so I'm really curious to hear what the Underground Movie Club thinks of them! Ok also how do you change the size of a photo on here?... this is getting out of hand.

Wow Mitch Baker coming from you that means a lot :') I love you too. I will watch those movies you have posted in the forum, I have not seen either of them.
I am back for another chunk of movies that I have watched since Mitch likes them.

OKAY, a chunk of what I watched in February:
1. EQUILIBRIUM (2002): Here's a movie I chose completely at random, look at this, it looks like THE MATRIX except with Christian Bale and some other guy. This is bound to be really bad, right? Surely this hasn't aged well? Well, I think it was alright. (I have never seen the matrix btw). 3 out of 5 stars for me.
2. THE GODFATHER (1972): I have gone and done it, the ULTIMATE movie that I have not seen before in my life, gone and watched. I am no longer "Brian Galecki: have not seen most of the movies" I am more "Brian Galecki: I have maybe seen most of the movies I am supposed to have seen by now being a 31 year old man." That is my official title now that I have seen this. And now I realize... The Irishman? Scarface? This movie? Probably the other Godfather movies that I haven't seen, and this "Casino" movie that I haven't seen, and "Good Fellas" I haven't seen, and whatever else. They are all the same movie. They are all over three hours long and really long about the rise and fall of a man in the underground crime world. Beautiful. This one might not be the best of those movies, but it was the first, and that's important. 4.5 out of 5 stars because of that, and I should watch it again at some point. This was a good movie to watch on Valentine's Day.
3. MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981): a kinda cheesy horror movie, called My Bloody Valentine and it came BEFORE the band I guess. So I gotta watch it. It's Valentine's themed. If Big John was still alive in the Shudder forum he would be picking this. (not sure if it's on Shudder though). I enjoyed myself. There WAS a pinball in it. I love how the whole town was decorated for Valentine's day with cutout hearts and it takes place up in Canada by Maine. There's a bunch of other things I liked about it. 3.5 out of 5 stars for me.
4. THE SHED (2019): NO. Here I go watching an actual random movie on Shudder, and I know what exactly is going on here. Shudder is saying "we want to poop out a movie as cheap as possible but people will watch it and buy our shudder subscriptions because of these new Shudder exclusive horror movies we can poop out." Bad. The movie wasn't good, and I also didn't like it. I guess it wasn't the worst, but it wasn't good. It's like a "shudder-stock" horror movie instead of a real thing. I gave it half a star out of 5.
5. THE CHANGELING (1980): A horror movie that came out one year before My Bloody Valentine, but it feels like a whole decade before because of how not exciting it is for the most part. It's a haunted house movie, but the only exciting things that happen are doors closing and a chair moving. 2 out of 5 stars for me. This was another random one off of Shudder btw. I would rather watch this than the new shudder exclusive crap at least.
