Is this true? You Peoria Punks are gonna have your own book?
Well, well, my underground forum book club will have to read this when it comes out.
Kevin, will you please write the Black Sheep book and have it come out next spring too? so I can also read that for my book club.

I'm really racking my brain to come up with punk bands out of Peoria. I think I know of one active one. I guess I'll need to read the book to find out more!
When's the "Don't Mess With Winkie" tell all book coming out?

I'm sorry, where Mitch is at is beyond EVEN my knowledge. I don't have anything to back this up but I do have a lotttt of crystals in my bedroom right now and my gut is telling me that if there was a way for Mitch to communicate with us, which there isn't, that the pick would be part one of Dinotopia which is streaming for free with commercials on Amazon video right now.

You posers weren't even at the Fugazi show in Peoria in 95.
But for real, most of this book is covering bands and venues before my time. It's mainly an 80s/90s book. Caustic Defiance was one of the earliest punk bands from the area, I believe they were an East Peoria band. Dollface, being my favorite Peoria band is covered too. I'm excited to read it as Peoria has always been a town of missed opportunity, the only bands that became something moved out of there, like Planes Mistaken for Stars or Minsk. There are so many great bands from Peoria that no one outside of Central Illinois ever got to know about because most bands didn't tour and/or Peoria (still is) skippable on any touring band's route, so the national exposure was limited.

Today's old old record find...
One of the collections I picked up from a 64 year old man who's father passed away who was pretty active in the Central Illinois barbershop quartet scene at one point. He probably performed in the "Springfield Chorus" which is why there would be a star next to that one on the back.
This is barbershopping in PEORIA, so I'm putting it in the punks in Peoria thread.

This is the all-around Peoria music thread, right?
So my former high school goverment teacher was here because I let them have their faculty holiday party at the store the other night 😂 and he was telling me about how he was friends with the drummer Gary Walden in this group I was unfamiliar with until now, THE MYSTERY MEAT. I guess they were from the Peoria IL area, and recorded in Carlinville, which is a small town just 45 minutes away from me. Gary had a sealed copy of their album (which they only pressed 100 of), sold it to a guy for $800. (Gary has since passed, r.i.p.) This is another one I'll have to always be looking out for.
