Ho oh oh! Merry Thanksgiving and Christmas and Black Friday!
We all love the holidays and so does Jeff!
That is why old saint Jeffery Kringle Blackenson is here in the movie chat to tell us what holiday movies to watch of a week! There are so many! Jeff is a big fan of the Hallmark channel movies (he has Hallmark Prime), and there are many to choose from so this weekly recommendation will be very helpful.

No I bet he switches it up to something more traditional than the FABULOUS modern holiday wonders they're cranking out over at the Hallmark Card and Care Corporation. I'd guess this weeks pick involves Tim Allen as a "not what you'd expect" Santa Claus.

Sorry, I have only watched one movie ever and it came with the only 7" I've ever bought new, ever. So I guess this is my holiday flick of a week, the end. That said, I can see how you all like movies so much. I was thoroughly entertained by the life-like martians and the life-like polar bear, and how the heck did ska bot get in this?? I also can't believe how they did some of this stuff in the movie, like the freeze rays! what an effect! I especially liked the ending when the bad martian got brutalized with baseball bats. I'm getting my kids baseball bats for Christmas now. I figured you would all like to hear how it ends so you don't get too anxious while watching it like I did, it's a lot of suspense to take in all at once.

I watched it....
my letterbox'd review: (spoiler alert): yeah, we all knew this movie was going to be bad. but it also was good. but the beautiful thing was that santa did not conquer the martians at all, he merely added joy to their world.

Wow it's the xmas season already! I'm woefully behind on forcing my children to rewatch the same vintage movies like we do every year. The movies that give me comfort and joy, and boredom to my children. We will keep doing this until they also find nostalgia and joy as the years press on, and the cycle repeats, as these are our traditions. However, we have had one chance so far to watch a movie, which some how my 7yo convinced all of us that the new Home Alone was going to be watched. I had a pretty good feeling going into it that it was going to be bad. I fondly remember the first and second Home Alones, but last year after rewatching the 2nd, I now only remember fondly the 1st Home Alone. However Charles is in the that ripe target market for the body humor/horror that is the Home Alone franchise. Charles was probably bored through the first half of the movie since there is no bloodshed involved with all of the logistics with setting up the Home Alone event. But of course his roaring laughter during the last third of the movie probably could have been heard across the street. One thing I found humorous was just how much effort they put into referencing every possible indicator that this movie is set in current modern times, for example VR headsets, and a mention that there are no landline telephones. Although they failed to show any indication that there is a pandemic going on. No one is wearing masks or checking for proof of vax at public events. I don't want to give too much away in the twist on the original theme they attempted here, but through most of it I was actually rooting for the people invading the house than the kid. Also I noticed they didn't go quite as violent against the intruders as the punishment received by the wet bandits. Still there was enough violence that would have killed them and spilled blood and gore in real life. Be sure to approach this movie as a Lifetime movie and not a Home Alone movie, it especially wraps up that way in the end. I can't understand how they got all these decent actors to go along with this, it's definitely not good and is not redeemed by anyone's performance. there are a few callbacks to the original movies along with a certain cameo, but my favorite part of the whole movie was probably the way Angels with Filthy Souls was portrayed as a silly reboot. 2/5 Stars since Charles still thinks this movie is amazing

Way to be wrong Jeff this is a 3 or 3.5 for sure. They did a great job of not “rebooting” or “remaking” but keeping it in the Home Alone-averse, the modernized the traps in a thoughtful but not over the top way, the call backs are tasteful, the kid is British so that’s pretty cute. It’s super fun to watch Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney get tortured. Do you even like movies?
