I have a sister who was a junior deputy Decatur park singer one year. I wonder if they're still doing it.

After making it halfway through the Golden Voice Recording documentary I reached out to Chris Gilbert who runs Alona's Dream Records and put the series together... WOW. He sent me a video flipping through his "files" of 45s - he had a whole Springfield "file" where he flipped through a bunch of old 45's from old Springfield bands. (There was CHampaign file and Peoria t00). I have many many old old local music to share now.
How I have never heard of this one?? A local 1970's group called HEAVY GUN?

I want to share with the forum one of my recent findings... The Glenwood Singers present... The Time Of Our Lives
This is from Glenwood High School I am guessing at some point in the 1970's (no date given). And it's signed by Mrs. P on the back!
This had me curious on how old Glenwood High School actually is, because I thought it was a newer more modern building. I looked it up and turns out "Glenwood" High School goes all the way back to 1957, although it was a different building back then and they built a new one at some point (can't find the year right now)

Came across this gem just now:

Kinda remind me of Hospital Job (?)... I might report back with the back cover later.
Milky T , you like how the font is the same as the Livin' Thing cassette tape?

last week or something a man came into my store with this record...

It's THE STING RAYS "of Springfield Illinois"
... I wasn't sure if he was trying to sell it to me, but I told him he should hold on to it. There is one of these for sale on discogs for $237 right now (not that it's actually worth that much)...
discogs listing - www.discogs.com/Sting-Rays-Of-Springfield-Illinois-Surfers-Walk-Mad-Surfer/release/9745801
(this was 1964) who'd of thought we had a surf band called The Sting Rays??? This was my first time hearing about it.

I don't believe I knew this until recently... that this rare psychedelic / acid / blues rock band that put out one v rare album in 1971 "FARM" was actually based out of Mt. Vernon Illinois! That is like a $1000 record we are talking there. I have never came across any, but my buddy America's Groove record store in Effingham DOES have one for hiself (I confirmed). Got to be the rarest or most valuable central illinois psych band records out there...
(was also recorded at Golden Voice in Pekin)
@zack you kno about this?
