posting in the Decatur thread....
(recent vinyl purchase)? (was given to me by a secret admirer)? I have gotten a record *very limited edition* Decatur based hardcore / metal band "Secretary" recently re-pressed on limited lathe cut (out of 38 copies) ?
Band was around from 2003-2007?

Putting this in the Decatur thread. I had an old man in my store today who sounds like played in a number of local groups in the 60's and 70's. He was telling me to look out for this copy of his old band's 7". They were actually based out of Decatur and he was telling me about how they practiced in the chicken coop out on the farm of the two brothers that were in this band. They changed their name a bunch of times. but for the 7" it was "COLD BECKLER" and the songs were "GET BACK ON THE BUS" and "POISON MAN". I found it on dicogs. Look at this gem:

Was trying to figure out where I put the DECATUR THREAD, I guess this is pretty much it.
After me and buffaaron420 's visit with decatur legend SKIP of the Avon Theater in Decatur a couple of days ago, I realized I must watch Central Illinois modern staple of a movie: THE INFORMANT! (2009) starting MATT DAMON
Holy heck. I do remember hearing that this movie staring Matt Damon was being shot in Decatur back in the 00's and I did not care about movies. I figured it was some sorta action movie with planes and they needed some good corn fields and I never cared about actually watching it. I did not know until just two days ago while talking to Skip of the Avon Theatre in Decatur that this movie was shot in Decatur but it was also about Decatur. About Decatur in the 90's even. There's a scene where they are at the FBI office in Springfield and literally out the window is the exact same view I see from my own living room window. I spotted a few Decatur landmarks as well, such as the Chinese restaurant downtown. I even recognized that corn as being our corn. Now that is wild, movie club.

I am in a deleted scene they shot at the mall. Did you know they made is CHRISTMAS at the mall? In like, August! They added a bunch of old stores too and it was really cool. I don't even think they used a single scene from the mall.
I was seeing a girl who lived in the same neighborhood as the house they used as Matt Damon's house in the movie. I took her home one night and they made me park like five minutes away. On the way back I saw Matt Damon and said "Hi Matt Damon" and he looked annoyed but he waved.
They filmed the hotel scenes at a motel by my house, and everyone in the neighborhood would go and stand outside of it while they were filming. I remember seeing Joel McHale, but this was before Community made it big, so I didn't really know who he was, except for the fact that I remember telling my friend that he looked way too handsome to be from Decatur.

I went to Decatur in a car full of people to see He Is Legend, and Decatur did indeed stink. A dignified hog smell.
I think that was in 2007/06, I don't remember who else played. A lot of knowledge was lost with the folding of Myspace.
