An old man pointed out to me that this 1960's group - SPANKY AND OUR GANG - who's records I have been getting in and out fairly regularly (and usually plop a lil' $2 price tag on) actually originally started in Bloomington IL. Apparently they later moved to Chicago and then New York. They recorded a total of 4 albums, the first three on Mercury Records.
current high score holder on: Ninja Turdles, Pin•Bot, Pengo, Lady Bug, Tank Battalion, The End, Jr. Pac-man, Amidar, and New Rally X. *2nd highest Dolly Parton score in the world*

Okay I have something to report here. This past weekend I went to the one record store in Bloomington/NOrmal I have not yet been to - REVERBERATION Records. I dropped a little bit of money and bought 3 records! 1 was a hawkwind record I got for $40. (the most I have spent on 1 record ever I think, but it is a "holy" "grail" record for me). Then I got two local compilations I did not have.
This one was a Peoria radio station WWCT - "basement tapes '82"
(and gotta love this insert)
I had had this record in my store at one point and didn't realize it was all local bands on it, so I did not keep it for my own local collection (what a silly mistake). I actually remember selling it on discogs for quite a bit of money after it sat in our store for a while.
When I saw it at Reverberation again I knew I needed it for my collection. Some pretty good stuff on here - and a little interview tidbit at the end from 60's rock group from Peoria "The Coachmen" who were one of the groups that recorded at Golden Voice Studios.
I put this in the Bloomington old music thread because there was a group called "THE UPTOWN RULERS" that caught my attention second to last track. It's an early 80's second wave ska group! From Bloomington! I have never heard of anything of the sort coming out of our area so I am intrigued! I will continue this discussion in another post...
