Good morning forum, today I am reproting back from after visiting the largest arcade in the world, Galloping Ghost arcade. Wow... just wow. As far as the main arcade building, never have I experienced SO much of one thing OVERLOAD in my life. The rows upon rows of arcades games, never ended. I thought it was one big massive room full and then found another door and there was like a whole nother building... like five buildings all connected. It felt like I should have been running around playing laser tag inside of the maze of arcades.
There were so many games and all of them were making noises all at once that I was so overwhelmed and I could not really play any of them. Then the ones I did want to play weren't working. I found the stand alone machine for bubbles (and it took me a long time to find it) and it wasn't working. I found the machine for QIX and it wasn't working.
one of the best parts of getting to walk around this giant maze of arcades was getting to see a lot of the artwork. it is a shame I could not see most of the side art for most of these cabinets. Also what a nightmare it must be moving a lot of those big machines around (especially any of the bigger shooting or racing games and getting them into the back of the rooms).
I am glad that the pinball building was there a couple of blocks down because I actually played plenty of games there. This trip made me realize I don't really care about arcade games, just pinball (well I knew that before, but I am even more thankful for pinball). I played some fun and rare pinballs on this trip. and got to update a lot of pinside scores - pinside.com/pinball/community/pinsiders/discobubbles1999/scores
overall I have to say the galloping ghost arcade is a very scary place that will give you panic attack and if I go back I will only pay $10 to be in the pinball building please
