I was talking with my next door neighbor the other day Nick DeMarco of Good Heart lollipop (and many bands over the years). We had an interesting discussion that would make for an interesting forum topic:
Local BANDS that have existed that never recorded, or bands that had songs that were written and they performed that they never got to record.
There's a whole lot... I feel like in the Springfield hardcore/punk explosion of 2014 ALL of those bands put out demos, and then continued to write great songs and some of their best too, but they never released a second demo or got those recorded. - KING WORM probably being a prime example of this, I was on bass for maybe their last 1-2 shows and knew that there was an entire demo almost ready to go with some of the weirdest music that would have ever hit the Springfield punk scene - of course LIVIN' THING probably had 2 songs that were never recorded, but hot damn those 2 songs were on another level as well. - lol remember TORTURE TREND? - I remember being very upset that the band SAP was breaking up without recording any of their best songs. I don't even remember what those songs were at this point, but I felt very strongly about it. I was even going to pay Brandon to record that band's final songs but it never happened. - Soap Scum had a whole other demo recorded but I just couldn't pull of lyrics or vocals. I take the blame for this one (yike) - oh man TEEN FREAK had another cassette single ready to go (and was even going to be released by Not Normal Tapes), but also.. we couldn't pull off getting the vocals recorded). I still have those instrumentals. - GARTER just had one song that nighthawk wrote hehehe
That's just a start for now. I know you all can add much more

DMWW had songs in works. bumpyoufor3 reworked some for Say Something, but I believe there was some Greg song(s) too.

If anyone's got Chris' email, he may have emailed them to me. (he didn't) Here's the DB song we covered the one show we played it at.

MANS (Bloomington) is the prime model of this thread's dream coming true. Mans broke up in 2007 and then came back a year later as a three piece and with new songs. These were the best songs they had ever written and simply blew me away live. Then they broke up again without ever recording those songs. For years I talked about how good those songs were and wished OH so badly I could hear them. Years later they came together to record two of those songs onto a cassette and play one more show. The songs lived up to the hype I'd been building for them. Although, I feel like there may still be one more lost song ~_~
The Serpent Son (Peoria) had an entire album worth of material that they had been playing live. I believe they said they might have been recorded even. That band just faded away and never put out the album though. I think one of those songs may have ended up on some Chicago metal comp.

Also, Cory and I were talking this week and we will try to track down the digital files to that last Caterpillar Club tape and put them up on bandcamp or something.
