Pinballz - Austin TX

What's good pinball heads! Let me tell you about this MASSIVE ARCADE COMPLEX located in the greater Austin area in a shady strip mall, Pinballz! Oh boy they have just about every game you can imagine! Multiple rows of pins, a bar, all the old mainstays, the xman game with four players. They also had a laser maze like you're a spy and you gotta get around the lasers and a go kart track where they let yours truly drive when the texas state patrol would have definitely said no.



I tried a few pins here that I've never played. The best was Mandalorian. I lost quickly and games were a buck each SO I didn't play a lot but I enjoyed all the stuff on the board and I think everything was working right. I say that because none of the other pins I played were in decent condition. Looney toons the left flipper would stop working. I don't know why I expected the south park machine to work any better but I played it and it wasn't. It made me really appreciate the work that's put into maintaining the machines at dumb, it's a real quality over quantity scenario.

I did play a mean game of hoops, which reminded me that hoops is definitely my favorite arcade game. I like that you can line four of them up and just go at it. I think that the Floyd's should get rid of their weird family guy bowling game, move the bullshooter (but don't get rid of it because it's the only bar in Springfield outside third base I'll throw darts), and put up a whole bunch of hoops machines.

Anyway back to pinballz. I don't know how I ended up with tickets but I did. I spent them all on Chinese finger traps. The guy asked me if I wanted a bag for all the Chinese finger traps and I said yeah and he said uhh I can't find a bag and after ten minutes he found a bag.

Pinballz is great if you're ever in TX but as a general rule I wouldn't recommend TX. I wouldn't even recommend pinballz for pinheadz. It should really be called "we bought every vr game instead of maintaining the pins because we're stupid." Who wants to move that much to play a game. Just go play basketball or something.

And WTF, is "PIN BALLZ" some new chain in Texas now? Are they gonna expand and this be our competition now?

So glad you got to play Mandalorian also before Jeff has ever played that game. So sorry to hear about Looney Tunes, that is a rare game (if it's the birthday one and not Space Jam) (right Jeff?) onne of the few games I have yet to play in my life!

Actually I've been to pinballz but a long time ago, they definitely didn't have go karts, vr or lasers back then. I was pretty early on in my pinball journey but I do remember the pinball being good there. I don't remember the pins being in bad shape, but I guess times have changed as that would have been back in 2013. I was in town to visit family and attend SXSW. I spent a whole night at pinballz instead of SXSW because I was down so bad with the pinball bug.
