You all get to hear it here first. I'm prepping for a major overhaul of the GALAGA machine in the arcade. It's going to have a sweet new menu screen, more games, and a trackball! I'm putting some of the highest end multicade gear in it. Real premo stuff! It's still going to be a selection of golden age early 80s games including those games already available. Unfortunately everyone with hi scores will have to start over. Hopefully the new hardware will save more than just the top hi score.
I'll report back after it's all working and I bet we'll have fresh games to geek over and perhaps even use for our next arcade contest...

now just hold your horses, Marble Madness takes 2 trackballs, but maybe we can meet in the middle at Crystal Castle.
But, I'm sad to say after spending the night completely taking apart midieval madness and finally getting to the root of the problem with the rigth troll and the catapult and finally solving them for good, I did not have time to do this Galaga project. With a secret mission to accomplish this coming week along with Christmas itself, I'm going to push off this upgrade to January.

The people are lining up out the door for this new upgrade. The biggest thing that has happened to the Dumb arcade, surely!
We'll be breaking this down in the coming days and weeks, forum users, but for now at first glance it looks like there are now 68 games on this machine and 2 of them are PENGO (the same game, not even Pengo 1 and 2). (There were 37 games on the machine before).
Probably time to start bringing back a weekly featured game for the forum.

I've confirmed, it now saves all hi scores, not just the top score, after the machine is turned off. Of course not all games register more than one hi score.
