Wowzers, what a year. I set out to discover as much new music as I could, and I ended up finding a lot of new favorites along the way. Below are a few of those, in no particular order:

Bottom Bracket - A Figure In Armor

3 of the most talented musicians I know put together a masterpiece EP. It's mathy, it's tight, and it's got moments that really grab you. Go see them play the gman on the 7th.

Favorite Track: Sun Singer.

Nectar - No Shadow

Nectar crushed it. The entire record pops. It's catchy. The guitar tones are perfect. Most notably, like KatD, its got its own feeling and message that ties it together really well. Absolute legends.

Favorite Track: TMF

Marble Teeth - 8 More

Caleb is one of my favorite songwriters. 8 More is folksy and tugs at you in a really beautiful way.

Favorite Track: my life as a minion

The Copyrights - Alone in a Dome

I can't name a band that better encapsulates what I love about punk rock more than the Copys. Killer harmonies, sick riffs, and a lot of moments that grab your attention.

Favorite Track: On Division

Looming - Anybodys Baby

Name a better voice in indie right now, you can't. This record picks up right where Seed left off. The chemistry in this band is unreal, and the wall of sound they hit you with is perfect.

Favorite Track: Sister

Decapitation in the Food Court - The Bottled Air and its Perpetual Prey

The first time I heard Decap I literally played them on repeat for hours. I was amazed by the artistry. It's got so many elements of older bands I love, blended together perfectly.

Favorite Track: Mauris Famous Cafe

Aftersome - Leave It Far Away

These three had a sick single on Bandcamp that I listened to a lot last year, and this follow up EP is a ripper. It's funky, it's raw, and the vox are on point.

Favorite Track: Receiver

Harrison Gordon - Bleach

This is the best song I heard all year. I got to see him a couple times this year and he absolutely shreds no matter the project. Do yourself a favor and listen to all of it.

Starter Jackets - Dead Malls

Lanny's voice has never sounded better, and the tones the Jackets got on this is just amazing. Earworms for days.

Favorite Track: On My Feet

Prevention - The Search

This EP goes hard my dudes. I think Drew is one of the best voices in hardcore that I've ever heard, both musically and lyrically. I'm a huge fan of the way the band plays with the dynamics throughout the record.

A Modest Proposal - Solera

I got really into AMP off their first record, Haste. Solera builds off that momentum really well. There's a tinge of late 90s emo throughout that I really enjoy.

Favorite Track: Earthbound

Tom Thanks - Sonder

Really dug this bunch of songs. Red is so chuggy, and all the time is super dreamy. Slaps front to back.

Favorite Track: Pain Truths

Forever Unclean - Best

My new favorite Danish band, Forever Unclean blends together a lot of different punk styles on Best, and it works! A fun record and I can't wait to go to Denmark and hear it live.

Favorite Track: Persona

The Bruce Lee Band - One Step Forward Two Steps Back

Best ska record of the year. It's poignant and radical and ska at its best.

Favorite Track: Did You Find the Money Farm

The Dollyrots - Down the Rabbit Hole

Name a more fun band, you can't. Every song on this record is so darn catchy, it's a punk rock masterclass.

Favorite Track: Super Mega Ultraviolet

Carly Cosgrove - See You In Chemistry

Best emo record of the year, I loved every single second of it. Unbelievable stuff.
