Hey underground pinball forum, thought I would start a thread for SUPER NINTENDO SYSTEM (SNES) because that was the first (and pretty much only) gaming system i had growing up, and i just crawled up into my aunt barbras attic and dusted off the old one this past christmas!!
I just recently started playing the game DEMON'S CREST which, I think is relevant to our arcade because it is a spin off of GHOST N GOBLINS character!! overall, this game is not great, but it is COOL.
first of all, the soundtrack is scary:
here is just a video of the first level, you start the game off by fighting the scariest boss of all time:

Great thread. Ill skip two of my favorites of all time because they're obvious (link to the past & super metroid) Instead I'll talk about Zombies Ate my Neighbors. You shoot zombies and pick up things. You can also become this wolverine thing and really start tearing it up. I never got that far as a kid, which made watching this speedrun a bit of a trip youtu.be/kUkJhlLPqsw

again, I've only read about this in Nintendo Power Magazine. I suppose I didn't spend much time on the deeper cuts of the SNES library since those carts were expensive and we didn't have a good rental store at that time

Also would like to add that there's been a couple of times around Halloween I've blasted the soundtrack to this game in the record store:
(and honestly should do the same with Demon's Crest soundtrack:

I want to tell you about one of the greatest gems of all time on Super Nintendo Gaming System: a game called "James Pond."
I believe I found this game as being the cheapest one I could get at a used gaming store in the era of N64 or gamecube, probably one of the last SNES games I was able to buy.
It is one of the wackiest games, you are a stretchy frog. All of the items you pick up are like every candy, food, and thing imaginable. The final boss in this game if I remember correctly is Santa Claus. When you get to the levels near the end Jingle Bells and other Christmas tunes are playing.
I think it's available on nintendo switch eshop for purchase for like less than $10 I highly recommend

The other day I was going through my collection of the handful of SNES games I owned. It's kind of sad that of the few games I happened to get during the console's lifetime, one happened to be Bart's Nightmare. This is one of the more ridiculous games in game history.

My memories of this game are VIVID. I don't think I ever beat it, but back then I was a child. I think I'd have a fighting chance these days.

Last night I watched: Super Mario Bros. (1993) movie that I have been hearing for years is one of Hollywood's biggest mistakes
And wow-EE where to beGIN on THIS ONE??
I am speechless. Before watching this last night my impression of this movie was that it was a real low-budget direct to VHS movie with a couple of guys with mustaches running around and not doing much. Well that was very wrong, this movie still very much had a big budget and was complete with wacky animatronics and some stop motion animations, dinosaurs, tiny moving lizard heads and all. Those weird tiny goomba heads I have seen all over the internet as .gif's before now I did not realize where they were coming from.
Yes the direction they went with this movie was extremely bizarre and made no sense and I am very confused to what their target audience is, but aside from it missing the mark in lining up in any way with the mario video game (and you gotta give it to em, Mario back in 92 or 93 wasn't as much of a developed characters or world as we know it to be now after Nintendo 64 3D games and on through the Nintendo Switch so who knows, they were just kind of picking their own path there).
Yes okay this movie was weird, but I actually don't think it was that bad. Honestly probably like the same movie or even slightly better than other early 90's space junky adventure movies like JUDGE DREDD (with silvester stalone) (I am right, watch both movies and know that I am right). There's probably other perfect examples of the type of movie this thing was going for. The 5th element, Jurassic Park, any other 90's action movies.
p.s. luigi didn't even have a mustache at all
