I'm wondering if the Junkies are going to be the most times I've booked the same band in a year
Adjy is one of my favorite out of town bands I've booked in the past. Anathallo (RIP) was one of my favorite bands of all time as well as one of the first indie bands I was exposed to. When I first discovered Adjy, they sounded just like em so of course I was in love. One year when Adjy was going to play my stage at Audiofeed it was a total disaster as just like Anathallo, they want to play every instrument possible and everyone sings, hits a floor tom, etc. I only had 10 minutes for setup and it took probably 30. Then their laptop fell off its stand after a couple songs so they had to chop another song or 2 off their set so they might have only played 3 songs. Plus I gave them extra time which then put me behind schedule for the rest of the night. I did find it amusing that the most overt Christian band playing my stage that night was the most pissed off that we were behind schedule. I think they were about to fight me.
When I saw Adjy again the next year, they had definitely slimmed down their setup, but still had the speak & spell for that one song and still had a stack of books for everyone to read out loud during another song. I still have a random copy of alice in wonderland in my basement rafters from when they played. The trouble with this band is the lead guy hates social media which I think has really hurt their ability to grow as it's really hard to share anything about the band.
Also I think this is the first time Ricki has played Dumb this year, I keep asking her and it keeps not working out, so it finally did this time.
And Emily is a pretty great indie artist herself as well. I was really taken back on how polished her sound was the last time she was here.

I got to catch about 30 seconds of Adjy while at AudioFeed. I was too busy chasing my kids around the festival to actually watch. I can confirm that they still have 20 bajillion members and more than one floor tom is being played still. It also gave me that feeling of how much I love this band and their joyful sound. Not a good band to listen to if you're trying to be mad or sad.
