I had a fun trip yesterday, I'll talk more about that on that other thread I have. I picked up a pinball that won't be in the arcade for a while as I have other games queued up ahead of it. I'm going to pick up a new dumb thing this Thursday in Lake of the Ozarks! somejabroni, you are so right, this is the chicken machine all over again. Longtime subscribers might remember I actually got 3 chicken machines at once from a guy who had them in storage in the ozarks. None of them were working, and I was able to get 2 completely working. The 2nd was sold to Mr America and is still in his shop in Effingham. This time I'm getting 3 dumb machines once again! One is working and ready to go, the other 2 are probably parts machines. I'll see if I can get one of the others working over time, depending if I have enough parts. We really don't have room for this new dumb machine so maybe it will appear someday down the road when we magically come up with more space. After I get these new dumb machines secured I'll be ready to put Raven on the market and once that's sold then Dredd will be coming back to the arcade! Also this weekend I rebuilt the flippers on Dredd and they're really strong now, the ramp shots are much easier to hit. I'm waiting on parts to come in for the arcade I picked up a couple weekends ago. Once those come in hopefully it won't take long for that machine to be working and make its debut. I'll probably swap it out with the Joust multicade and bring Joust home. I also started a conversation with Mr. America as he has a collection of broken arcade games, and maybe he would want me to fix them up over time and they can appear in the arcade for a little while for "play testing", we'll see where that goes.

Last weekend I fixed the arcade machine I borrowed, maybe we'll see that make an appearance next week.
I also need to get Raven listed on Marketplace soon so I can bring Dredd in.
At this time I don't really have any machine projects to work on, guess I better go bother Troy again, or bulletproof that last pinball I received. I'm still waiting for the board to be repaired for that other pinball.

I expect tomorrow night Brian and I will be moving in the next arcade machine. This may not actually trade out anything, just be another machine along the wall.
I'll also be listing Raven
Also for some reason I've ordered 30 wizard hats and a custom trophy.
I'm currently out of projects and the machines haven't been breaking at their usual rate, so maybe I'll ask Jacksonville Troy for more games.

boy I'm not liking how this week is going. I had a local guy interested in buying Raven so I let him check it out before I posted it on marketplace. He took a whole week to get in there and check it out just to decide he didn't want it after playing it for like 5 minutes. So now I'll finally get to listing it today.
Meanwhile 3 machines were down yesterday in the arcade: Shrek, Volcano, and Wor. At least Shrek was a couple easy fixes. For some reason the fake slingshot on the mini playfield decided to explode and the little ball got caught in it. That was easy enough to put back together, just a loose screw. I also reseated the ball trough once again so it would register that the ball had drained. I really need to order new optos for that to hopefully stop that from happening all the time.
Volcano was frustrating as the same thing broke that broke a couple months ago, the coil was locked up in the firepit, completely cooked probably due to the transistor locking up again. I was planning to hold onto volcano for a while but with this problem recurring I guess not. These old system 80s probably aren't meant for the hustle and bustle of public arcade use, probably would be just fine in a home setting. So I guess I'll be putting that on the chopping block after I fix it.
Wor is going to be my next boss battle. It's playing blind which means the game is still working, just can't see anything on the screen. Supposedly Jacksonville Troy had a guy who completely rebuild the monitor, but I guess there is still something going on with it. I took the chassis out last night (which is a whole ordeal). It does have new caps and it looked like most of the solder joints had been reflowed, so the obvious problems are already taken care of. I reflowed everything again and put it back together with no change. At least I got familiar with this style of monitor in the process. Probably took about 3 hours just to do all of that as I have to proceed carefully with the hi voltage and researching how this particular monitor operates. Next I will have to dive in deeper. Fortunately there is a lot of content on the internet about this model of monitor as it's pretty common for golden age arcade games. Wor may be down for a while as I figure this out.
I was excited about my plans in June for Wor but I guess that might be on hold for a while.

Someone is selling a little Caesars pinball, but the images are atrocious. I once tried to but a working one from a little ceasers but they s said no. I think this would be an amazing pinball for Dumb depending on how broken it is. Here's my attempt at posting images in the forum. EDIT: Posting the images worked obviously

oh boy I have a lot of games to fix this week. I was at the arcade last night and noticed the scoop on Godzilla is not registering and one of the guns on Gunblade is broken again. So that means I have all these games to fix tonight: Volcano, Shrek, Godzilla, and Gunblade. Hopefully all these will be quick fixes.
I can't fix Wor yet as I'm still waiting for the parts to come in although I have a pretty good theory on what needs fixed on it now.
Last night I worked on Mousin. It's working fine, I was just recapping the power and sound boards just to make sure it stays working. That was the only project I have at home as I'm still waiting on Jacksonville Troy to deliver me some games, I have a feeling he's not going to at this point.
Also Arcadia just posted their latest auction over the weekend. I put in bids on some things to see if I can get a deal, but I doubt anything will come of that. I guess I'll have to go over there if I want to get anything from him.

It sure has been tough to keep everything fixed lately. The part for Wor finally shipped yesterday so hopefully I can get that working next week. I had to order a new microswitch for Godzilla's issue with the mission scoop so that's still going to be a few days.
I also received the wrong part for Volcano so it still isn't working. I had to call Marcos, the largest pinball parts site, and explain that they packaged the incorrect transistor even tho it was labelled as the one I ordered. Turns out their entire stock for that transistor was messed up so they refunded me the order and I had to order somewhere else.
At least on Tuesday I was able to fix Gunblade and then install the new trough optos on Shrek so hopefully it will stop forgetting where the balls are once in a while.

Still no buyer for Raven. I have the parts now for Wor and Volcano and will hopefully get those fixed tomorrow night. Once fixed, I'll be listing Volcano for sale.
My next Godzilla part just shipped today so not sure when I'll get it and be able to fix that one since we have a show on Friday.
Tomorrow I'll be visiting Mr America while on the way to the crosley warehouse and I'll be bringing back my next arcade game project. I'm not sure what game it's going to be yet.

well most of yesterday was pretty fun. I picked up a Mario Bros arcade from Mr America to take home and work on. It will probably be a large project and once completed I'll bring it into the arcade.
Getting back into town, I started working on all the broken games. I fixed Volcano only to find it had another issue that I will need to order parts for so it's still down.
I did successfully fix Wizard of Wor! This was a tricky one to figure out however I ran across a few posts on its monitor about the black level pot and how it's a common failure point. I ordered a new one which took 2 weeks to ship since the parts website was taking a break. I replaced the black pot last night and it's now working! I figure we need to have it running for a week before we finally get to our exciting plans for that game.
Then I replaced the optos on the left ramp for Godzilla, which is what I did to fix an issue with the building before, but it had no effect and the left ramp is still broken. I'll have to do more research on that. So at this time the left ramp is still not registering the ball so you can't start battles or anything else involving left ramp.

Finally, last night I worked on Godzilla again and finally fixed it. Turned out to be a loose ground wire. I wrote a long post on pinside on my process but basically I've learned Stern soldering on some playefield components sucks. I also noticed the wire was loose on the captive ball target, which confirmed my suspicions that it did not always register a hit. Hope everyone is able to enjoy their battles now.
I only have one broken game currently in the arcade, and the part for Volcano should be in next week.
