Oh boy I really did it, I won two pinball machines from the latest Arcadia auction. I guess that's a pretty good sign the pinball market is slowing down as I should have been outbid on those easily. I'm getting both games for a decent deal even after figuring in sales tax. I will be picking up both Monday next week and taking them down to the pinball dungeon for overhaul. I suppose how good of a deal this turns out to be will depend on how close in condition these games are to being as advertised.
One is a 90s williams DMD game which will be a nice replacement for Dredd down the road. This one was actually sitting in Pinball Paradise for a while and I've played it. I figure it will need shopped but hopefully nothing too extensive. The other is an 80s williams system 11 game that doesn't boot, so will probably need board work.
I'd say both have been on my wishlist, just not near the top.
Also I have the part for Volcano so hopefully Tuesday night I'll get that fixed finally.
Still no buyer for Raven, if nothing happens with it this week, I'm going to ship it to the Record Barn and it will be their problem.
Also after some encouragement from Robb and Brain I decided to tell Jacksonville Troy Yes, I can take 26 arcade machines on loan and stick them in my basement. Troy said he would think about it. Hopefully Jack and maybe others may be up for helping if we actually do it. My basement can handle it, but our backs?
I dabbled a bit this weekend on the weird machines, seeing if I can get a second one running, still need some parts tho.
And I tested the Mario Bros cabinet and it's very dead, the only life it's showing is the power supply LED lights up but that's it. That will be a dive for sure.

When you say helping, do you mean helping move them? I'm game for that.

Finally, Volcano is working, and listed on marketplace.
If someone on the forum wants to buy both Raven and Volcano, I'll throw in 1 free record of your choice from Brian's personal collection.
Now let's see if Brian can have 2 minutes of free time to put together the art for our next arcade contest this week

Wow yesterday was a big day for the Pinball Department. I moved Dredd back to the arcade, moved Raven to the record barn, then went to Mclean and picked up 2 pinballs which I haven't had a chance to setup yet in the pinball dungeon repair shop. I expect both of those will need some work.
Also the cherry on top of the day is someone is coming Sunday to buy Volcano, which means I'll be moving in Mousin' Around to the arcade
Boy I have a lot of machines to fix now in the repair dungeon, and I haven't even started on that Mario Bros I picked up 2 weeks ago.

I'm really excited for mousin around. That game looks extremely silly, which is right up my alley.

Had a nice smooth Sunday morning of moving out Volcano and moving in Mousin Around.
It might be a little before I'm ready with a new game. I currently have 3 pins and an arcade in the pinball dungeon repair shop and all of them need a ton of work. Right now I'm in the midst of making repair lists for each game and ordering parts.

I'll stop by to play it when I'm back from Tampa. If I see Fat Bob from The Cure, I will tell him to come play pinball at Dumb Records after the tour.

I am making progress on Mario Bros which is probably next game coming to the arcade, still will be maybe a month before it's complete. I was happy to bring the monitor back from the dead as it was really toasted. It's been great working with Mr America to pay for the parts and cosmetic upgrades for this, should look pretty sharp once it's done.
I pulled the monitor from Asteroids as it's been down for a couple weeks now. I'm noticing Asteroids is getting wet as it's right where the roof leaks when it rains really hard. I'm wondering if that might be the cause for the monitor not working. The cabinet wood is swelling a bit which made it hard to get the back door off, will take some sanding to get it back on. I pulled the monitor to take it home last night and see if I can find the problem.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville Troy has messaged me about bringing over 15-20 games some Saturday coming up. Here's hoping people will be available to help whatever day he lands on! Otherwise you'll probably find me flattened under the 9th or 10th game going down to my basement.

I'm still waiting to see when Jacksonville Troy is going to bring a big truck full of games over to my house, definitely not helping my anxiety wondering when it will be and if anyone will be available to help that day
I've got so many projects to work on right now and I'm not getting much done. I am slowly working through the Mario Bros. I replaced the t-molding, got the marquee light working with a new LED flourescent tube replacement that can bypass the ballast. This is a helpful trick so I don't have to really modify the game whenever I encounter a bad ballast as that happens a lot with these old games. I just had to wire it up wrong a couple times and fill up my basement with smoke from a small electrical fire, but I really know what I'm doing now. I have one more thing to fix to get the screen working perfectly, it's a little jittery right now. I suspect there is a bad vertical potentiometer on the game board as it does nothing when I try to adjust it and I'm reading that's a common failure point. I'm still waiting for a new control panel overlay as that will really help this game look good. Once I get those things done, this will be ready to bring in.
I'm also trying to figure out why the Asteroids monitor stopped working, there are so many rabbit holes there, will continue on that research tonight.
Dolly might have a broken flipper so will check that out tonight.
Plus I've been getting parts in for one of the 3 pinballs in the basement so I should now have everything to get it working, or at least farther along.
Summer activities are certainly slowing me down, as well as having a new gaming pc and discovering Red Dead Redemption 2 is a really fun game...

I decided games in the basement were too difficult to deal with moving them on stairs up or down. Get them in a newly built room on a ground floor. Far easier to get more, trade them or sell them.

I'm very close to finishing Mario Bros. I figured out the last of the screen jitters by re-connecting the anode clips. They gave a nice spark in the process, arcade monitors always keep me awake and alert. The only thing it needs now is a hi score save kit, which also allows the game to save the free play setting. It would be a pain to have to reset the free play setting every time you turn on the game each day. After that's installed I'll keep it on for long periods of time in the basement make sure it stays working fine.
Yesterday Brian and I went to see Jacksonville Troy and brought home 3 more classic arcade games. He seems pretty ok with us just taking his games for a while. He ended up moving his extra games over to his garage instead of my basement, which is fine, and I still have access to the games to fix them up and bring them to our arcade.
With these new arcade games coming in this year I think it's finally time to sell off some of the games that have been sitting in the arcade since it opened which would be Asteroids, the sf2 multicade and the joust multicade. I like the idea of having all original golden age arcade games so people can take in those original cabinets in all their glory.
Speaking of Asteroids, its still broken. I fixed one issue last Friday during the hip hop show but it still needs more work. Next I'll be taking apart the hi voltage cage on the monitor which means I needed to solder a resistor to my monitor discharge tool. You have to be extra careful when discharging a vector monitor. I'm not completely sure what is wrong but hopefully I can find it once I tear into that section.
I also need to work on Mousin Around as it's getting beat up and maybe I'll actually clean some pinball playfields this week as Shrek and Godzilla are getting dirty.
