Have you ever paid way to much money to see a band open for a larger one and then dip out of there before most people have even sat down?
I watched Johnny Marr open for The Killers at the giant Ball Arena last night and sprinted down the hundreds of stairs from where my seat was to the front door as fast as I could the moment Johnny played his last note.
This year I know I will be waiting by the back of the room while Drab Majesty plays so I crowd kill my way out of there as quickly as possible before AFI.
Don't think for a second I won't shove an elderly goth TO THE GROUND on my way out from The Chameleons before The mission comes on.
I had to hike in the dark out of Red Rocks after Tycho so I wouldn't hear one moment of Phantogram several years ago.
It would be nice to see this artist in smaller venues with cheaper tickets but it is kind of nice being tucked into bed by 9pm.

haha yeah lemme think...
one time me n buffaaron420 met up at castle theater in bloomington to see TONY MOLINA (and also maybe BIG EYES) and left right before the headliner, AGAINST ME (sorry LJG, we got friendship pizza and did come back and see part of the set)
off the top of my head, also went to see TENEMENT in St. Louis and left before DIRECT HIT who was headlining that tour.

I remember being at SXSW in 2009 at a scottish band showcase and seeing Camera Obscura, The Proclaimers, We were Promised Jetpacks and Dananananaykroyd. I left before the headliner Foals played.
We've been getting used Foals records in the store lately and after listening to some of them I believe I did make the right decision.

In Colorado I went to see the hotelier with a friend and he said he was gonna bounce before the headliner and I said okay I will too but the headliner was Joyce Manor so I ended up staying. I usually leave before the headliner at fests because I'm tired.

Earlier this year I went to see We Are the Union in St. Louis and bailed before Eve 6 played. I would have skipped Steve Miller Band when I went to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy open (very odd pair), but my buddy really wanted to see Steve Miller Band so I hung out.

I would love to see We Are The Union and Steve Miller Band play a show together! Would watch them both. One of those bands was supposed to play Black Sheep at least once, but had to cancel their tour.

One of those bands was supposed to play Black Sheep at least once, but had to cancel their tour. That would be an interesting combo as well. If that combo hit the road I would be tempted to check it out and maybe live my fantasy of leaving before Steve Miller Band takes the stage.

The reverse happened to me at Riot Fest 2008. A bunch of Springfield people went up there for other bands and I was very excited to see ALL play. After like 5 songs into ALL’s set everybody was like, “Kevin let’s go home.”…At least I was able to catch a nap during the D.O.A reunion in the mezzanine section.

Can someone convince me to enjoy AFI? I use to hate it but now I think it's just kind of boring. I wish Drab Majesty was opening for his other band Blaqk Audio which makes more sense stylistically. I would even take extremist. I feeeel like I could like AFI but we'll see
