That looks like a blast! I wonder if there's magnets moving the ball around in that alien jail thing.

Defeating aliens in different cities? I'm digging the Attack from Mars similarities.

I watched part of the stream over on Dead Flip's channel on twitch. It does look to be a fun game to play. I had some thoughts
Jack has added a few "firsts" in this game. Shatz targets on the inlanes, which encourage shatzing. (go look it up in the pinball dictionary Brian)
Also on the Premium/LE only there is the "Overdrive" post on the left outlane which kind of works like a death save. Jack is a big nerd about these kinds of things so it makes sense he would try to put this stuff in his game.
They were also talking about the drop targets having a big target behind them as being a new idea, which doesn't sound that new to me as a lot of old games have targets behind drop targets.
The flow of the game looks good. There is a lot of encouragement to make combos.
Everyone was draining on the right outlane a lot, so this might be a harder game as no one's ball time really lasted long and these were all pro players.
There is some consideration about pro vs premium here. The pro does not include the Van/ball lock, upper playfield, overdrive post and alien toy. It just has pieces of flat plastic for the alien and van toys however the ramps look pretty good. I'm not sure how much the upper playfield really adds to the game, at least from what I was watching they really weren't trying to shoot for it a lot.
Also I suppose the foo fighter songs do sound ok in a pinball machine. I've never really listened to them specifically, but we've all heard it before. To me Foo Fighters really became active right after I was buying 90s alt rock CDs and things like Creed were getting big and I was much more interested in classic rock bands. It seems the songs don't play as big a part in this game as they do in other rock band pins. You pick a song at the beginning of the ball but it doesn't really change anything in the game depending on what song you're playing, plus modes play different songs as well. If I was considering getting this game, I would be fine with the pro. Although with my lessons learned from Godzilla, it's just a bad idea putting a premium game in a public arcade anyway, all those fancy extras break a lot.
Oh one more thing. The mode start looks pretty easy to get in this game. That's my one sore spot with Godzilla, that shot to start battles is a really tough shot and I hate it when it's a hard risky shot to start modes that I often miss and drain. I had this gripe about Hook and Stern Star Trek in the past as well. This is the main reason I sold my Hook even tho the movie is one of my all time favorites.

Here's a first, Jack Danger has been posting all day about the first Foo Fighters available to play in public are at SXSW during a Stern showcase of some sort. Just rub it in my face that I can't go to SXSW these days.

Just rub it in my face that I can't go to SXSW these days. Have you been? I've always avoided it because I'm scared I'll watch a band that slaps and then accidentally walk into some sort of conversation about sustainability brought to be my Pepsi and ExxonMobil. Then I heard about Austin City Limits and thought that sounded more up my alley. But I do like how SXSW seems to get a lot of diy bands to come around. Heck, even Fujiko is playing some sort of "heading to South by southwest" festival, which is neat.

I sure did. I went in 2009 and 2013. Your fears are somewhat valid in that would be the vibe of the official sxsw showcases but I never went to those. There is so much going on that you'll never see half of all of it even with not going to the official events. It spans over many streets of every conceivable space becoming a venue with thousands of bands playing at the same time at all hours of the day. Many bands are racing from venue to venue to play a set and setup for their next set. They may play 3 or more sets a day. I remember Dawes saying they had a piece of their backline at 5 different venues. I've never felt a space more alive in my whole life. I would pick a venue each day that would have most of the bands I wanted to see and then sometimes just roam, and the roaming part was when the real magic happened. I happened across an outdoor space where the Beards were playing and I had a huge beard at the time so they brought me up on stage during their set. The Beards were a Australian novelty band where every song was about beards. One time I saw Annie Clark (St Vincent) just waiting outside a venue and she waved hi when I recognized who she was and acted awkward. The first time I went I got to see Anathallo right before they broke up. I got to see Passion Pit just as they were starting to blow up, they had so much energy with the guy standing on their amps ringing handbells. I got to see so many great bands of the time just camping out at venues and playing a very minimal cover and drinking Lone Star tallboys. OH I got to see whole dang polyphonic spree play in a venue that was burned out by a fire but was halfway rebuilt with a lot of the roof missing. I saw a scottish music showcase that included We were promised jetpacks, the proclaimers, camera obscura and dananananaykroyd.
When i was there in 2013, I had already booked The Soil and the Sun to play at Whiskey. They got a bunch of NPR coverage during SXSW so I was commenting on NPR about how I was excited for them and they were playing my place and whatnot, and then the manager of Lucius reached out to me to see if Lucius could play at Whiskey, too. So that's how one of the biggest Whiskey gigs came about. Lucius was playing my basement in between playing the tonight show and Bonnaroo. It really felt like I was a part of something that year as I got to see tsats and lucius play sxsw with a bunch of music press covering them and then they played Whiskey later in the year. That was basically my Coneheads play rock and roll hardees moment.
I'm not sure if it would have the same magic now as it did for me then when I was younger and ready for it. It was just a magical time. I'm also bummed that even NPR All Songs podcast doesn't even report on it anymore. Used to they would be there and do a report each night on all the highlights each of them had witnessed. It really added to the excitement of the whole thing. Now all they do is just talk about the new releases coming out and nothing about shows or live music anymore. My experiences at SXSW were probably the biggest inspiration for me to start Whiskey Lounge as I was all set to move to Austin but decided that might not be a good idea so I thought maybe I could create a little bit of that here. Of course now just like NPR, I'm just about selling records and arcade entries and making money, but maybe there is still just a tiny little part pf me left that wants to continue putting on magical live music shows.
