Wow another show I gone and booked. I did the flier for this one as I had some pretty good ideas if I do say so myself. Brian loved it when I showed it to him

oh wow this is comin up!
Time for some more real talk. Since I wasn't able to book a show in August as the hardcore kids already filled up the calendar before I could get to it, I got to thinkin. Ya'know I'm getting pretty old and my promotional reach isn't what it used to be, or maybe it's the same, it's just people who are also getting older and buried in even more responsibilities. Kids these days have shows with over 100 peeps like it's nothin, my shows lately have been numbering in the 30s and I'm paying out of pocket for the bands to play. I gotta say I'm feeling most of the time I'm just doing this as a favor to bands, I can't say there's too much in the current scene that I'm really jazzed about. I think it's time to hang it up. Maybe my place is more caretaker of the space than booking and promoting. I still am glad to maintain a space where diy all ages shows can happen as that's a pretty rare thing and enriches the lives of a lot of people around here.
Perhaps if I take a step back someone else will take step forward. I would be happy to help them through the process for sure.
At any rate, this would be a good show to end on. One of my best fliers, one of my favorite central IL bands with Fujiko, a new band for me to check out with Afters0me, a hot new local with Acid Fog, and Emily, a young talent trying to get out there on the singer-songwriter circuit.
I've always got too many burners going at the same time and I'm looking forward to reinvesting my time and energy on the other things, plus maybe I'll have more time to check out shows I'm excited about.

I'll be at this one for sure. You're definitely overloaded with too much stuff. Gotta make sure you can enjoy your family and pinball.
Sadly, I have zero experience, knowledge or patience for booking shows. Plus, I have been told I'm not allowed to have any new hobbies until I get my current ones under control. ADHD is the worst.
